San Bernardino County Community to Host Human Trafficking Awareness Event

 

SWCAT Facebook Header2Ontario, Calif. – We have a goal…a world without modern-day slavery and in January, the public is invited to a educational conference on the issue of human trafficking with a particular focus on how to help and advocate for commercially sexually exploited children.

 

The National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation (NWCAVE), San Bernardino County Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation (CASE) and Crittenton Services for Children and Families will be hosting the Southwest Conference Against Trafficking (SWCAT) in Ontario, Calif. The Southwest Conference Against Trafficking will bring respected social services organizations, local elected officials, multiple expert speakers, celebrity support, and notable journalists together for one powerful, educational and inspirational weekend January 15-17, 2016 at the Ontario Airport Hotel & Conference Center in San Bernardino County.

The conference will feature breakout sessions, networking receptions, keynote speakers, resources, the San Bernardino County 6th Annual Anti-Trafficking Walk, and a special appearance and speech by actress AnnaLynne McCord.

The Jane Velez-Mitchell Journalism Award will also be presented on Saturday evening to John Canzano, a reporter at The Oregonian in Portland, OR for having the courage to use his media platform in order to help bring the story to light of a young woman who was raped by four college football players.

About the Conference:

The conference weekend includes two full days of workshops, more than 25 presenters, resource information, networking, and will end on Sunday morning with the San Bernardino County 6th Annual Anti-Trafficking Walk.
