Wraparound Services Annual Family Picnic

More than 200 Crittenton Services for Children and Families clients and their families from the Los Angeles County area participated in the Wraparound Services Department’s Annual Family Picnic at Cerritos Regional Park on June 15, 2013.

The goal of the picnic is to promote family unity and to teach Crittenton clients and their families that they can spend quality time together without having to spend a lot of resources.

“Crittenton Services started this tradition to encourage families to spend quality time together in order to nurture their relationship as a family. We also wanted the families to have a family day where they don’t have to worry about transportation issues, budget, or where they are going to get their next meal from,” said Cesar Salgado, Wraparound Program Director, CSCF.

Crittenton provided five shuttle vans to transport the families that wanted to assist the Father’s Day weekend festivities and food was distributed for families to enjoy their family outing to the Cerritos Regional Park.

The event had a day long agenda of family oriented activities that included: a string relay race, water ballon tossing game, face painting, a family photo booth opportunity, an art show, Bingo, giveaways, goodie bag distribution, prize raffles, and carnival snack stands stationed throughout the event site.

Wraparound Services Program staff took time off from their own families to volunteer making sure that the Crittenton families enjoyed their time and were safe at the family picnic. Staff from the Long Beach, Norwalk, Pomona, and Rancho Dominguez/Compton Calif. service planning areas came out to support the notable cause.

“By teaching our families that they can have fun as a family helps link the concept of healthy family relationships, thus, making it easier to teach families how to better manage family issues that will arise,” Salgado said and added,” We also give the families an opportunity to let us know how we can improve our Wraparound Services Program in order to improve our services to the future families assigned to our care.”
