Crittenton Sponsors the 2016 Youth Exploitation Safety Symposium

Healthy relationships are the best prevention. Time and time again Crittenton Services for Children and Families has documented that when a young person has no advocate or caring family member to protect them that is when abuse can happen.

So, it is with pleasure that Crittenton is supporting the 2016 Youth Exploitation Safety Symposium and looking forward to seeing our very own Dr. Barbara Hernandez, Vice President, of Community Based Services conduct a workshop at the symposium.

This year’s YESS event will be held at Long Beach Community College on Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 9:00 AM to 3:00PM. This symposium is specifically designed for youth, parents and educators and all presentations are geared to bring awareness on safety issues that today’s youth face. Attendees will get to choose their workshop preferences and the event is free and open to the public. Lunch will also be provided for those that attend.

Among the topics to be discussed in an age appropriate fashion will be:

  • A Holistic Approach to Treatment for Young Victims of Trafficking
  • An Introduction to Human Trafficking
  • Risk Factors of LGBTQ Youth
  • Labor Trafficking
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Cyber Safety
  • Gangs
  • Substance Abuse
  • Fatherhood

YESS 2016 has been generously sponsored by: City of Long Beach, Safe Long Beach, Long Beach Grip Project, Long Beach City College, Long Beach Council PTA, Long Beach Unified School District, Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force, Kingdom Causes Long Beach, Crittenton and iEmpathize.
